Man of Steel is another movie reboot to one of the most popular comic book heroes, and because it's kind of a trend these days, is a little more realistic and little darker. In this movie we don't just see the origins of Superman on Earth, but also how he is saved from the destruction of Krypton. The origins are mainly presented to you as reference flashbacks to an action that Superman is about to do, which connects what Superman learnt as a child and how this affects him on the decisions he has to make as an adult. As soon as he find out about his self and his story on Krypton, we move to the second act of the move which is to save the world against another Kryptonian named General Zod. (And also Superman learnt to wear his underwear) (overused joke is overused)

The plot and the writing in general is pretty blunt, (and when I say "pretty" you can't even imagine how much) the story moves forward so stupidly and with so many conveniences that you will feel this movie lacks any depth, it's just here to satisfy viewers that only care about plot less action. Everything just ties together with so stupid ways that you will think Snyder and his writing team were thinking "nah they won't even notice it". The film also lacks emotional moments that will make you care for it's characters, to be honest I only found one and that was between a young Clark Kent (Superman) and his father (played by Kevin Costner) (in which scene Kevin Costner kills it, man tears my friends man tears).

Also the movie it was filled with side characters, that with writing like this, you don't really care about, not that you care about the main ones. All the characters are under developed except the hero and the villain.

On the acting side there aren't much to talk about, everyone is doing their job satisfactorily but nothing extraordinary. I think that casting wise Herny Cavill is a pretty good choice for Superman, but something holds him back in this movie (IT'S THE SCRIPT!)

Now the action... oh the action, most of the time it was really really good and enjoyable, with clever scenes, good directed scenes but... way way too many action scenes it feels that almost a bit more of the half movie is action and this is where it ties with the problem with the writing. They couldn't move the plot forward with good writing, so they added action to do it for them. (To be honest I don't know how much action it had exactly but to me it felt around the 65% of the movie)

In the end, the movie is barely at the scale of enjoyable (unless you really like meaningless punches) with bad writing and overfilled with action. The thing is that it leaves you the taste that it has the potentials to become something good (so I still have some hopes for the sequel)(and if it fails I think that we will wait a long time until we see the man of steel in the big screen again or we will see him in franchise milking bad movies).

I will add some spoiler stuff here, click to read them only if you watched the movie or you don't really care:

Rating: 6  (sorry Aris)
